Mortitx

The reserve at Mortitx is situated north of Pollensa on the road to Lluc. Mortitx is well known for its excellent vineyards which sit on an estate through which there is a wide and relatively easy going public footpath to the reserve. Follow the footpath which will lead you through woodland and gives good views of the mountains. You will come to a stile which leads into the reserve and find a large map of the reserve at its entrance.

There are spectacular views of the Tramuntana mountains from here and you can expect sightings of Black and Griffon Vultures, Booted Eagles and in the summer, Wrynecks. The Blue Rock Thrush is present throughout the year. Follow the path and it will take you to the Ses Basses viewing point which looks out over some very steep sea cliffs. In the area close to the Mortixt buildings you will find information boards on the recently introduced Bonelli’s Eagle. If you are lucky enough to see one of these magnificent birds please post your sighting on our forum.

Overall the walk is about 10km in length.

Grade of difficulty: 2

Toilet facilities are available

Travel Tip
