The coastal geography of the region provides numerous opportunities for a wide variety of boat trips. Private boat hire, with or without a skipper, is available from a range of companies operating from the harbour in Puerto Pollensa close to the Tourist Information Centre. Sandwich boards and kiosks advertise many of the options available together with their prices.
When hiring your own boat it is worth remembering that apart from all but the smallest boats, you will need to have a license so a skipper may well be needed and is probably the best way to get the most out of your trip.
Why not take a ferry from Puerto Pollensa to the lovely beach at Formentor? During the season the service runs several times a day and is a favourite with holiday makers. Take a picnic with you and don’t forget to pack plenty of drinks!
There are numerous boat trips available which provide food and drink and a great days entertainment in addition to those offering fishing and snorkeling. Sea Adventure run trips ranging from a one hour sail around Formentor, a two hour trip to the caves or a two hour snorkel trip and sunset trips in the evening.
In late summer the glass bottomed boat cruises which sail around Cap Formentor enable wonderful views of the colony of breeding Eleanora’s Falcons which nest on the cliffs en route from Cap Formentor to Puerto Pollensa. At the right time of the year, normally October, you will see these magnificent birds diving off the cliffs to catch exhausted arriving migrating birds stopping for a rest on their long journey across Europe.
You can charter a boat or join the many parties that leave for half day or full day cruises from Boat Rentals Pollensa.
Boat hire, trip days and sailing times vary greatly and it is easier to just wander down to the harbour and take a look at the huge variety available.
